What do End Clips do? They hold the rubber within the channel of a squeegee. End Clips also tension the rubber which makes the Squeegee easier to use and improves performance.
Why should I use Ettore End Clips? They are well made and give good grip of the rubber. They are designed to fit the internal profile of most Brass Channels.
What are they made of? They are made from thin Brass.
Why do I need them? Firstly they hold the rubber within the channel. Secondly they tension the rubber. The rubber needs to be tensioned to work effectively.
Are there any alternative products? Yes Window Cleaning Stuff (WCS) stock a range of End Clips. As an alternative SYR make a very similar End Clip (Our Code CXS01) and Unger mark the PCLIP, a plastic End Clip. (Our Code CXU01)
Do all Channels for Squeegees need them? No. In most Stainless Steel Channels the rubber is held in position by teeth in the Squeegee handle. Most Brass Channels use End Clips. Of course there are always exceptions: Ettore Stainless Steel Backflips do use them, so do the Ettore Aluminium Super System Channels. However the Unger Aluminium Ninja Channels use their own type of End Clips. If in doubt, the collar of Brass End Clips can normally be seen at the end of the Channel.
How many do I need? On a 6" 15cm Channel you need just 1. For all other sizes you need 2.
How do I fit them? Remove the old rubber by pulling the end of the rubber. As you do so the old clip should become visible. Discard the old clip. Now pull Rubber through the Channel from the other side - so removing the old Rubber and the other old End Clip - and discard both. The new Rubber should be 6mm longer than the Channel. Insert the new rubber through the Channel. Fit a new End Clip on the Rubber at one end. Leave about 3mm between the end of the Rubber and the collar of the End Clip. Push the End Clip into the Channel. Pull the Rubber at the other end so that it extends enough to fit the second End Clip, again leaving 3mm between the collar of the End Clip and the end of the Rubber. Press the second End Clip into the Channel. If the rubber is not tensioned correctly: Gently pull the rubber from one end, increase the distance between the end of the Rubber and the collar of the End Clip. Repeat at the other end if necessary.
Can I reuse them? Most window cleaners just discard them once used. However, if they are not damaged and still grip the rubber they can be used again.
